Follow my swim
My swim started at around 9.30am Friday the 29th July and finished at Cap Gris-Nez France in the early hours of Saturday the 30th July taking 14 hours 56 minutes Our Escort Boat was the Sea Satin with experienced skipper Lance Oram and his crew of two.
Lance is in charge of the swim and has full discretion to pull me from the water if I am struggling for any reason, hypothermia, illness, exhaustion, stings etc. Additionally, there will be an observer on board from the Channel Swimmers and Pilots Federation (CSPF) which is one of two governing bodies for all English Channel Swims. Finally, my old friend from childhood Tom O’Byrne, himself an accomplished marathon swimmer, will be my wingman handling my feeding and any other requests from the water, e.g. pain killers! Another old friend Trish Wadley will also be helping on board.
